The Swansea Bay CHC is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Whilst we endeavour to meet ‘WCAG 2.1 AA’ we currently have the following Non-compliance issues:
NHS Wales Informatics Service, who provide technical support for our website, aim to have these failings corrected by January 2021.
Whilst we will prioritise information on our services and activities to ensure it is digitally accessible wherever possible, we know there are some sections of our website of a corporate nature, which are not currently accessible and have been produced since September 2018.
For these sections, we will identify where we know documents are non-compliant and provide contact details wherever possible. As documentation is renewed in the future, we will ensure digital accessibility is considered.
Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we occasionally have PDFs with information on how to access our Advocacy Service.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services. We do not plan to fix any non-essential PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018, for example, meeting papers, minutes & actions and visit reports. However, we will endeavour to make any new PDFs or Word documents accessible wherever possible.
We do not plan to add captions to live audio or video streams. However, we will always aim to provide subtitled versions of pre-recorded videos produced.
We plan to identify and fix issues according to the timescales shown for each area above, in partnership with our technical support providers NHS Wales Informatics Service.
We are also planning to amend our publication standards to take account of the need to make our information accessible via the website and any apps that we may use in future.
This statement was prepared in October 2020, based on technical compliance and non-compliance as identified by our technical support providers. The website will be reviewed, both internally and externally over the coming months and our statement will be updated in January 2021.
This website was and is currently being tested for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V2.1 level AA, and these tests have been carried out internally.
