What We Do

Swansea Bay Community Health Council is a statutory organisation, the independent voice representing the public’s interest in the NHS in the County Boroughs of Neath Port Talbot and city of Swansea.

We monitor the quality of the NHS services provided within the Swansea Bay area.

This is achieved by:

  • Assisting and advising people who wish to make complaints about NHS services.
  • Offering information and advice about health and related services in our area to local people.
  • Being consulted by the Swansea Bay University Local Health Board and others in changes to health services within our area.
  • Monitoring the performance of NHS service providers.

Our members undertake regular visits to hospitals and GP Surgeries throughout the Swansea Bay area.  Reports of these visits are available on request and are included in our  full council meeting papers, these meetings are open to the public.

Overall, we try to make sure that people in our area receive good service from the NHS and its contracts,  we try to act as the "Honest Broker" in this capacity.
